NWU name and branch tapes do not include black pixels by design, as this would cause the letters in black embroidery to be unreadable. If you're in the California State Guard Maritime component, or MARCOM, these are the correct branch tapes for your uniforms. No velcro, meant to be sewn to chest of uniform.
